Summary:When high temperature superconducting (HTS) current leads (CL) carry AC transport current, AC loss occurs. For the HTSCLs of fault current Iimiter (FCL), fusion magnet and superconducting energy magnetic system (SMES), their transport current are non-sinusoidal waveform of which AC loss are difficult to be estimated. It is important to analyze the AC loss of HTSCLs with non-sinusoidal current wave. In this paper, we firstly proposed two kinds structure of HTSCLs and then calculated the AC loss of them with the specific current waveform by using finite element method (FEM) software COMSOL. Finally the AC loss results of these two structures of HTSCLs were compared and analyzed to select the preferred structure.
