Summary: | Traditionally, stereo images are images of the same object or scene captured by two different cameras. Recently, a lot of smartphone manufacturers had introduced dual lens camera models into the market. This paper looks into utilizing the smartphone's built-in dual lens camera to capture stereo images for the development of stereo vision app on Android smartphones. We will go through the tools needed to build the app and how to access the dual lens camera individually. Because not all smartphone allows access to the camera's lens individually, we must investigate and determine which smartphone models provide the ability to do that. The result shows that LG smartphones allow us to access the camera individually. LG offers the most flexible and full camera control. Huawei smartphones (including Huawei's subbrand Honor) have extra parameters to an existing camera control that might be able to use but further investigation is needed. Since the suitable smartphone models have been identified here, you can acquire any one of those LG smartphone models and start to develop your own stereo vision Android app. |
