Summary:Magnetorheological fluids are materials that respond to an applied magnetic field with a change in rheological behaviour because the iron particles under a magnetic field cause the formation of columnar structures parallel to the applied field. These chain-like structures restrict the motion of the fluid, increasing the viscous characteristics of the suspension. In this paper the authors study a dynamic model of mechanical system composed by a MR fluid shock absorber, spring and mass. This system represents the classical suspension used in the whole mechanical application necessary for the control of vibrating system, that is represented using a second order differential equation.
