Summary:In the present paper the modeling and control of a Dual Active Bridge (DAB) converter with input and output filters for energy storage systems (ESS) applied to DC microgrids has been described. The small-signal equivalent models are derived from the averaged circuit of the converter. Since the DAB converter with filters exhibit distinct transfer functions for charge and discharge modes, a double loop control and a method for smooth transition have been proposed. Simulations results are presented in order to evaluate the proposed control technique.
