Summary: | The design of a W-Band gyro-TWT amplifier operating in the circular TE 02 mode at the second cyclotron harmonic is presented. The interaction circuit in the design consisted of an two stage distributed-loss structure. Nonlinear analysis show that the amplifier can generate a saturated peak power of 465kW with a gain of 49dB at 91GHz when utilized a 100kV, 20A, v 1 /v 2 =1.2 electron beam from a magnetron injection gun. Based on coupled mode theory, this paper discuss TE 02 -TE 01 mode converter within a tapered waveguide radius and obtain a bandwidth about 4.1GHz, the conversion efficiency can exceed 97%. |
