Summary:The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how a professional society like IEEE can leverage its organizational structure and global reach to encourage the world wide dissemination of the Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS) concept. We discuss the "EPICS in IEEE" program developed through the Educational Activities Board (EAB) of the IEEE. After 1 year of operation, there are now 13 EPICSin-IEEE projects in progress all over the world. The goal of this paper is to describe these projects, present the EPICS-in-IEEE program in general, and discuss how potential EPICS-in-IEEE sites can start their own projects.
