Summary:to address the problems in comparing and selecting power grid planning scheme, such as heavy workload and lack of quantitative assessment, an UHV grid delamination and partition planning method based on short circuit current coordination is proposed in this paper. Firstly, through UHV substation 1000/500 kV bus short circuit current calculation and coordination, the supply area permissible generator capacity that accessed to the 500 kV power grid was determined quickly. Secondly, comprehensive power supply capacity was determined based on that. Thirdly, combining the generation and load scale of different supply areas, multiple 1000/500 kV grid delamination and partition planning scheme were formed. Fourthly, a final recommended scheme was determined through a comprehensive assessment on every scheme. At last, a recommended scheme for power grid planning was formed to Henan power grid as example, which contains 3 UHV substations and 2 UHV DC transmission lines.
