Summary: | In the modern day world, the need for a more economical and safer means of increasing production in a manufacturing industry is vital. When humans operate on a press machine, there is lesser productivity due to fatigue. There is also a risk of them getting injured in the process. Hence there is a need to design a system which can address both these issues. The solution is automation. Replacing the `human-being' by a simple machine is what we have done. Automation is the use of control systems and information technologies reducing the need for human intervention. Automation brings accuracy, precision and efficiency. Since automation replaces the human-being, there is no scope of the operator being in danger of the heavy ram of the press machine. In this paper, we enumerate the construction of a particular design of an automated system which operates on press machines using pneumatic cylinders controlled by a microcontroller. We conclude by giving an overview of the different processes which use automation as well as few other designs which can be used. We also list the advantages of automation over manual labour. |
