Performance analysis of 4 × 4 FBG-OC-based bidirectional optical cross connects using ten-port ROC in WDM networks

In this paper, the crosstalk performance of a 4 × 4 fiber bragg grating and optical circulator based bidirectional optical cross connects using ten-port rotatable optical circulator (ROC) in wavelength division multiplexing bidirectional ring networks has been presented. The number of coherent and i...

Summary:In this paper, the crosstalk performance of a 4 × 4 fiber bragg grating and optical circulator based bidirectional optical cross connects using ten-port rotatable optical circulator (ROC) in wavelength division multiplexing bidirectional ring networks has been presented. The number of coherent and incoherent crosstalk components has been identified. The performance is evaluated in terms of total crosstalk power and BER. Also the effect of fiber brag grating parameter has been investigated considering the power ratio of each coherent and incoherent field, relative to the power of main signal.
