Summary:In order to deeply understand the propagation characteristics of high frequency signals, such as partial discharges in cables, lightning impulses and switching transients, and for improve the measurement and location accuracy of power cable partial discharge signal, based on the classical transmission line theory, a mathematical model of 10 kV crosslinking polyethylene (XLPE) power cable is established in this paper. The transmission line equations of established model are set up and solved using Kirchhoff's law to obtain the characteristics of power cable wave. By means of comparison and analysis on characteristic parameter curve between the established model and classical transmission line model, the feasibility and accuracy of established power cable mathematical model in this paper are verified.
