Linear induction accelerator of the hollow electron beam

Short description of the main systems of the holow electron beam linear induction accelerator (LIA) is given. The main characteristic features of the accelerator are; homogeneous solenoidal, pulse guiding magnetic field with strength up to 1.5 T in aperture 120 mm, high beam energy gain 10 keV/cm an...

Summary:Short description of the main systems of the holow electron beam linear induction accelerator (LIA) is given. The main characteristic features of the accelerator are; homogeneous solenoidal, pulse guiding magnetic field with strength up to 1.5 T in aperture 120 mm, high beam energy gain 10 keV/cm and beam current up to 1.5 kA; the lack of drift section between the electron sourse and induction system; the use in modulator of one thyratron and three stages of power compression providing power 7.5 GW with pulse duration 60 ns on the load 0.75 Ohm. The LIA characteristics, its possibilities, the measurement procedure of LIA and beam parameters in on-line regime are presented.
