Summary:As a research topic and priority for policy formulation, resource allocation and strategy implementation, low-tech (LT) and low- and medium-tech (LMT) sectors have traditionally attracted lesser attention compared to high-tech sectors. This paper addresses questions concerning our current priorities in terms of research on innovation in LT/LMT sectors. A systematic literature review spanning the time period 1999 to 2010 has been conducted to address these questions. From the review, a research agenda is developed.
