Summary:This study proposed a method for damage assesment in structures, which was based on time domain and mode shape of vibration responses. In this research, the effect of delamination of laminate plate is investigated. Delamination was varied in sizes and positions. Experiment and simulation were developed for the purpose to identity, analize and predict the delamination in order to prevent failure. The method used experiment and simulation of finite element methods using ABAQUS/CAE 6.11 on laminate plates. The dimension of plates was 150 mm x 150 mm x 6 mm with and without delamination and the bounadry condition was fix-free-free-free. The rectangle delamiations was created using two layers of aluminium foil coated with wax and the cavity of 40\ \mu\mathrm{m} thick for experiment and simulation. The area fraction of delamination are 13,33%, 20% and 26,67%. The location are at the clamped line, at 1/3 of plate length and at the mid-length of the plate. The results show that an incease of delamination area resulted in the decrease of natural frequency.
