High power monolithic passively mode-locked slab-coupled optical waveguide lasers

A monolithic, electrically-pumped, passively mode-locked diode laser at 1550 nm with 58 pJ of pulse energy has been demonstrated. The laser produces 10-ps pulses at a 4-GHz repetition rate.
