Preparation of a novel chitosan derivative and use in water treatment

Chitosan-betaine derivative was prepared by chitosan and betaine hydrochloride through dry process in the presence of dicyandiamide. The product exhibited solubility, practical flocculating property and antibacterial efficacy.
