Summary:In this paper, we design a non-real-time underwater acoustic speech communication system similar to WeChat. Its communication rate reaches 2400bps when the communication distance is less than 5km. Due to the time-varying characteristic of underwater acoustic channel, we choose a short code named compensation code keying (CCK) soft spread spectrum without reducing the communication rate. As for speech coding, we adopt the Multi-Band Excitation (MBE) model. We refine the system parameters through computer simulations and pool experiments. Finally, the performance of this underwater speech communication system is confirmed by pool experiment.
