Summary:This paper presents a study and optimization of two step-up DC-DC power converters operating with high efficiency to be used in the first stage of grid-connected photovoltaic systems. The first studied power structures was the DC-DC Half-Bridge Zero Voltage Switching Pulse Width Modulation (DC-DC HB ZVS-PWM) asymmetrically driven converter and the second was the Full Bridge Zero Voltage Switching Phase Shift (DC-DC FB ZVS-PWM) converter. The efforts in the study of the structures used in the first stage were focused in characteristics like high efficiency, galvanic isolation, robustness and facility to control.
