Summary:Industrial robot has been more and more widely used in industrial production, but robot lacks the ability of perception. So it doesn't reach industrial automation. With the development of machine vision, the emerging technology has been applied to the industrial robot to improve the production efficiency. In intelligent improvement, machine vision plays a vital role. This paper establishes a workpieces sorting system based on industrial robot of machine vision. The main process is as follows: taking images on workpieces; acquiring edge information of workpieces by Canny algorithm; combining probabilistic Hough transform and Freeman chain code to identify shapes; calculating center spatial coordinates of workpieces and guiding the robot to complete sorting job. The experimental result shows that the sorting system can realize fast identification of inerratic and geometric workpieces so as to meet the requirement of sorting.
