Summary:New Renewable Energy sources are changing the way the Electric Grid is conceived: new challenges are given to Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and to Transmission Systems Operators (TSOs). These challenges regards business models adopted and reliability, efficiency and controllability of the system. In this new framework, it is important to give to Decision Makers tools able to help them in facing these new challenges. In this paper, ad hoc Neural Networks have been designed and tested in order to provide a useful tool as part of a larger Decision Making Support System (DSS) for the management of a real run-of-the-river hydroelectric power plant.
