Summary: | A new scheme is used for applying FACTS controller in the distribution system to handle three-phase unbalanced loads is introduced. With back-propagation based Artificial Neural Network (ANN), FACTS controller in the form of Fixed Capacitor -Thyristor Controlled Reactor (FC-TCR) type is introduced to cancel negative and zero sequence line currents caused by the load to restore balanced operation. In order to do this, three-phase unbalanced load is separately modeled, then a FACTS controller in the form of FCT-TCR type is introduced in the form of three-phase variable susceptances connected in parallel with the unbalanced load using ANN approach. On-line measurement of load admittance is chosen as the input signal to the ANN whose outputs are the thyristors firing angles of FC-TCR device. In order to test the capability of this method, scheme is applied to six different cases to restore the balanced operation for each case. |
