Summary:A modern facility for conducting UL follow-up tests on molded-case circuit breakers such as endurance, overload and short-circuit tests (up to 10 kA) was designed and installed in one of the Puerto Rico plants of the Low Voltage Breaker Division of Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Design considerations and novel features of this facility are described. Alternative designs for high-power laboratories for obtaining currents of about 200 kA are briefly described.
