Summary:Because of their price, some substances such as liquid crystals are not available in large quantities. In this paper, we present new dielectric measurement techniques using very small samples for a wide frequency range (from 1 Hz to 26 GHz). After describing the various experimental cells used and the methods allowing the calculation of the complex permittivity of the substance, some dielectric spectra of nematic and smectic liquid crystals are given.
