Summary: | The results of Plasma Current Interrupting Switch (PCIS) investigations are adduced in order to clear up an MJ energy range pulse generators. Important values for PCIS operation are considered: optimum plasma concentration, charge density limits, total particle amount in PCIS plasma, erosion beginning. PCIS operation effectiveness is improved under external magnetic field application. Different field configurations are considered. The "canal" PCIS operation scheme is suggested. It proposes plasma division into separate canals switching parallel. Study of MJ generator creation possibility with a pulse duration 10-20 ns shows that only way is parallel-consecutive PCIS commutation. First stage modules operate parallel. Second stage PCIS has a resistance greater than one first stage PCIS module if a number of parallel modules is more than current front interruption coefficient. A gain in power interruption takes place owing to last stage PCIS energy input time decrease. |
