Summary: | Decentralised control systems for the automation of MV and LV electrical distribution networks are today possible thanks to the availability of more and more powerful intelligent devices. These devices are integrated in circuit-breakers and switchboards. Intelligent devices are directly connected via field-buses and can communicate with each other. The paper describes how to carry out the automation required by the distribution network using intelligent devices. This goal can be achieved without the use of a centralised controller. As a consequence, it is possible to save resources, improve quality, reduce design and engineering time and increase power system flexibility. (5 pages) |
