Summary:Bowling in cricket demands a high level of proficiency in various aspects, both physical and mental. Among these critical skills, mastering the technique of delivering the ball stands out, and it can be enhanced through different training methods, which rely on sophisticated performance characteristics. Creating an affordable smart cricket ball is a solution to address the limitations of existing systems, enabling the exploration of cricket bowling kinematics and dynamics. Historical challenges realised while studying cricket bowling performance with smart balls, due to constraints in electronics design and data collection, are overcome. This paper mainly focuses on performance improvisation of players with the help of a smart cricket ball. The primary objective is to develop a highly portable instrumented cricket ball using ESP8266 microcontroller and MPU6050 sensor which is capable of capturing the kinematics of the ball and using the information to compute performance characteristics.
