Summary:A CPW-fed slot antenna integrated with an artificial magnetic conductor surface to achieve directional radiation pattern and wide-band performance is presented. It consists of a bow-tie shaped slot fed by CPW line and backed by 4 × 4 unit cell array of overlapped triangular AMC. The proposed AMC has overlapped triangular-shaped geometry which achieves 27.11% reflection phase bandwidth(±90 0 ). The proposed antenna is fabricated and measured. It exhibits measured wide impedance band-width ranging from 4.31-7.33 GHz (51.89%). The antenna has low profile of 5 mm (0.07λ 0 , at the lowest operating frequency of the antenna) and average peak gain of 7.68 dBi over the operation frequency band of the proposed antenna.
