Summary:In an electrical power system, the transmission line has great importance and act as the key component to transmit power from generation end to distribution end. Accurate knowledge about the transmission line parameters is required to implement the important actions related to operation, control and the design of protection schemes for the power transmission lines. In this research work a technique for the estimation of transmission line parameters of a short line model is presented using the input and output measurements of the line e.g., voltages, currents and power factor measured at both sides of transmission line. By formulating an error minimizing obj ective function using a metaphor-less optimization algorithm, the Rao-I is used to identify the parameters of short transmission line. The estimated parameters showed substantial accuracy depicted by the paraenetic traj ectories and have greater closeness with the actual line parameters.
