Summary:The motor drive system of an electric vehicle converts the electric energy in the battery into mechanical energy, to provide driving power for the car, which is an important part of an electric vehicle. This paper first introduces the heat source and temperature rise hazards of the motor drive system and analyzes the limiting factors of electric vehicle performance improvement. Then the existing motor cooling technologies are summarized, and their principles, advantages, and disadvantages are analyzed. Finally, the principles and effects of air cooling, liquid cooling, and air-liquid combined cooling are introduced in detail based on specific cases and simulation results. The development trend of the motor cooling system is clarified, which can provide some reference for the improvement of the electric vehicle motor cooling system.
