Summary:The battery is a very important component in any vehicle. It has its functions in initial vehicle startup and the working of electric components. Batteries will be automatically charged while running and it supplies power to the accessories. Power optimization and saving of power from wastage in batteries is the major research happening all over the world. It is proposed to monitor the battery usage and to save the battery charge. The cooling fan used for controlling the engine heat consumes power from the battery. The cooling fan will be powered on along with the engine startup and it will run along with the engine. By monitoring the temperature of the engine, the switching of the fan can be controlled according to the defined temperature. If the temperature exceeds the defined temperature, the fan can be switched on by using the battery supply and once the temperature comes below the level, the cooling fan can be switched off. Another extension of the proposed work is the battery theft detection and intimating the user via Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM). The entire operation involves heat and vibration sensors, controllers, engine fans, and batteries. The sensor values are fed to the processor which switches the fan off or on according to the value and the status of the battery is shared with the user.
