Summary:A wide-band and millimeter wave band pass filter with defective ground structures is designed and presented. The model consists two square structures with a cross which combines the squares. The model consists of four ports which are microstrip based patches without any attachment to the main radiator. The defects in the ground plane have made an improvement in the bandwidth. In this work, investigations on this model were carried out by varying the substrates and their thickness. The investigations made are showing huge variations in terms of pass bands. The operational band is starting from 1GHz and ends at 40GHz. The illustrations of investigations are carried out using different materials which finally suited for millimeter wave applications.
