Summary:This paper aims to evaluate the active vibration damping of a cantilever aluminum beam using a piezoelectric actuator in LabVIEW software. One piezoelectric actuator placed near the fixed support excited the beam to resonance transverse vibration. The second piezoelectric actuator, which was placed next to the first one on the beam, was used for active vibration suppression. A triangulation laser sensor was used to measure the free end displacement of the beam. Using a DAQ device card, the active vibration control was implemented in LabVIEW software. Finally, the operation and damping performance of the designed control system (based on PID and fuzzy control theory) for suppressing free and forced vibration of the cantilever beam was evaluated.
