Summary:This paper presents the speed control of a three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) by using the fuzzy controller. The proposed fuzzy controller is designed for the speed and current loops of the PMSM drive system, resulting in the satisfactory performance of the system. Fuzzy rules are generated by the cooperation of knowledge and experience about motor operations without using the accurate mathematical model. The effectiveness of the proposed fuzzy controller for the speed control of a three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor under different operating conditions is confirmed by the simulation results.
