Summary: | In this paper, a new compact and dual-band composite right left handed (CRLH) antenna is designed, simulated and measured. The antenna operates at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz respectively. CRLH unit cell consists of the interdigital capacitors to provide the series capacitance and the shunt short-circuited stub for the parallel inductance. It radiates through interdigital capacitor in the 2.4 GHz band and the via holes are used to concentrate the fields on the interdigital capacitor. In the 5 GHz band, the whole patch along with the interdigital capacitor radiates. The antenna is fed by conductor backed CPW and fabricated on FR4 substrate with a thickness of 1.6 mm. The measured results show the S 11 of −15 dB and −20 dB at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz respectively. |
