More Information
Summary:High quality single crystals of CeNiGe2 have been investigated by means of magnetic susceptibility, magnetization, electrical resistivity, magnetoresistivity and thermoelectric power measurements, carried out along all three principal crystallographic directions. The compound is an antiferromagnetic Kondo system that orders magnetically at TN = 3.9 K and undergoes a spin structure rearrangement at T1 = 3.2 K. The magnetic behaviour is strongly anisotropic with the easy magnetic direction parallel to the crystallographic a-axis. The Kondo temperature and the total crystal field splitting are of the order of 20 and 100 K, respectively.
