Summary:The rubella epidemic of 1964-1965 resulted in the birth of a group of children with defects of vision, of hearing or of the heart. In this study of cases known to five Los Angeles agencies, it was found that about half of those affected have more than one defect. Findings demonstrate a need for more sensitive communicable disease surveillance and for the development of services for the multiple handicapped child.
