Smectic-C to smectic-CA phase transition in the mixture of antiferroelectric liquid crystal and graphene

The effect of graphene nanoparticles on the smectic-C* to smectic-C* A (SmC* to SmC* A ) phase transition in antiferroelectric liquid crystal is studied theoretically. Model free energy is based on Flory-Huggins free energy of isotropic mixing and Landau theory of phase transition. The effect of gra...

Summary:The effect of graphene nanoparticles on the smectic-C* to smectic-C* A (SmC* to SmC* A ) phase transition in antiferroelectric liquid crystal is studied theoretically. Model free energy is based on Flory-Huggins free energy of isotropic mixing and Landau theory of phase transition. The effect of graphene nanoparticles concentration on tilt angle, spontaneous polarization and dielectric susceptibility in the smectic-C* A phase of the SmC* to SmC* A phase transition has been studied extensively. The qualitative agreement between theoretical and experimental results is found.
