A new algorithm for detection and verification of ventricular arrhythmia from the left ventricular pressure waveform

The new algorithm for detection of cardiac arrhythmic beats by analyzing the left ventricular pressure signal is presented. The algorithm analyzes changes in beat rate, peak-to-peak amplitude and width of the LVP beat cycles, to identify arrhythmic beats. The algorithm allows rhythm analysis of pati...

Summary:The new algorithm for detection of cardiac arrhythmic beats by analyzing the left ventricular pressure signal is presented. The algorithm analyzes changes in beat rate, peak-to-peak amplitude and width of the LVP beat cycles, to identify arrhythmic beats. The algorithm allows rhythm analysis of patients with highly distorted ECG, and can also be used in conjunction with ECG based algorithms to improve performance. Testing the algorithm, on files from heart failure patients treated with cardiac contractility modulation therapy (CCM), showed a total detection failure of 1%.
