New ternary intermetallic compound SmRuSn2

Ternary intermetallic compound SmRuSn2 was synthesized in the system Sm-Ru-Sn by arc-melting and annealing at 600 °C in field with high content of Sn. Its crystal structure was determined from single crystal X-ray diffraction data (at 240 K) and then confirmed by the powder X-ray diffraction data (a...

Summary:Ternary intermetallic compound SmRuSn2 was synthesized in the system Sm-Ru-Sn by arc-melting and annealing at 600 °C in field with high content of Sn. Its crystal structure was determined from single crystal X-ray diffraction data (at 240 K) and then confirmed by the powder X-ray diffraction data (at 295 K). The compound crystallizes in with space group Cmcm (No. 63), unit cell unit cell parameters: a=4.3954(19) Å, b=10.3783(13) Å, c=7.417(2) Å, Z=4. The intermetallic compound SmRuSn2 belongs to the structure type MgCuAl2.
