Summary:The effects of Nb 2 O 5 and Fe 2 O 3 additives on microstructure and dielectric properties of BaTiO 3 materials were investigated using an X-ray diffractometer, a scanning electron microscope, a capacitor tester and a hysteresis loop test. Experiments reveal that incorporation of a proper content of Fe 2 O 3 in Nb 2 O 5 doped BaTiO 3 can accelerate the pore elimination, and significantly improve temperature characteristics of the BaTiO 3 ceramics. The development of microstructure promoted by the additives can result in an improvement in the dielectric constant. When the the doping concentration of Fe 2 O 3 was 1·50 mol.-% and the concentration of Nb 2 O 5 was 1·00 mol.-%, the relative dielectric constant of ceramic can reach 3879.
