A novel UWB horn antenna

This paper presents a new design of a Ultra-Wideband (UWB) horn antenna, with return loss lower than -10 dB across a broad frequency range of 300 MHz to 3 GHz. It is intended to be used in UWB radar whose goal is the detection of buried victims under debris. The proposed antenna is fed by a customiz...

Summary:This paper presents a new design of a Ultra-Wideband (UWB) horn antenna, with return loss lower than -10 dB across a broad frequency range of 300 MHz to 3 GHz. It is intended to be used in UWB radar whose goal is the detection of buried victims under debris. The proposed antenna is fed by a customized balun that matches the input signal with the curvature of the antenna. As a result, this antenna may be used to increase the detection likelihood of buried people, due to its high gain.
