Summary:Digital microfluidic (DMF) biochips are used to perform various laboratory operations on a tiny chip. Sample or reagents are highly expensive for performing any biochemical laboratory protocols. Sample preparation is one of the most challenging phases because cost and operational time minimization is desired for fast and high-throughput applications. In this paper, an efficient algorithm for the preparation of harmonic dilution gradient for DMF biochip has been proposed. Waste recycling in dilution preparation causes minimization in sample droplets as well as waste droplets. An equivalent architectural layout of DMF biochip is designed in this work. The results manifested that the proposed algorithm significantly outperformed the recent multiple target dilution technique on number of mix-split, number of required reagent droplets and number of produced waste droplets.
