Summary:This paper presents a simple dual-band metasurface absorber (MSA) that absorbs Wi-Fi frequencies of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. The MSA unit cell consists of two structures of meandered loops for dual-band absorption with four-fold symmetry, making the structure polarization insensitive. The MSA unit cell is constructed on 17×17 mm 2 FR4 substrate and provides maximum absorption of 98.27% and 99.81 % at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, respectively. Due to the symmetrical structure, the proposed MSA can also achieve an angular stability up to 50° with near zero cross-polarization effect. The proposed MSA exhibits several advantageous features like high absorption, wide range angular stability, negligible cross polarization in addition to its simplistic design with nominal dimensions. Therefore, the proposed absorber is found to be a suitable candidate for absorber applications in RF and wireless communication systems, EM energy harvesting, and EM wave shielding at Wi-Fi frequencies.
