Summary:The Internet of Things (IoT) systems interconnect wide ranges of network devices irrespective of their resource capabilities and local networks. IoT networks need to provide reliable and secure services to the end-users. The system necessitates a certain degree of mutual trust amongst all linked devices to maintain user confidentiality and privacy. In a Fog IoT network, the computing entities (fog nodes) that provide services to IoT devices should be able to verify whether the devices making service requests are legitimate or not. On the other side, IoT devices that deliver data and other valuable processing requests should be able to confirm whether the intended computing entities are secured and gauge the level of confidence that other fog nodes have. This requires a robust link establishment mechanism in place for both way communication to ensure reliability and security in hierarchical and decentralized fog IoT network. The level of confidence among computer entities (fog nodes) and Internet of Things (IoT) devices in a real-time environment has been calculated using a novel methodology that we have developed in this paper.
