Summary:As an intermediary link of flexible energy generation and consumption, energy storage system (ESS) plays an important role in renewable energy accommodation, loss reduction and load management at low voltage (LV) distribution system, in particular releases increasing burden on LV distribution transformer stations (LVDTSs). This paper proposes a two-phase mobile energy storage system (MESS) day-ahead operation scheduling method to solve the heavy loading and high distributed renewable energy penetration scenarios simultaneously at LVDTSs. The first phase model determines the locations by optimizing the transfer matrix of MESSs among several LVDTSs every hour. And the second phase model manages the operating schemes of MESSs with a smaller time granularity based on the first phase optimization results. The mixed integer quadratic programming (MIQP) is used to solve the two-phase model to obtain the optimal location and operation scheduling of MESSs. The effectiveness and feasibilities of the proposed method are verified by the case studies.
