Summary:This study aims to design a frequency reconfigurable and pattern reconfigurable cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) with a single PIN diode. A PIN diode is used to achieve reconfigurability across two bands at 4.8GHz and 6.5GHz. The cylindrical DRA is excited with two different hybrid modes HEM 11 δ and H EM 21 δ at lower and higher frequency bands respectively. A different radiation pattern is produced also achieved at two different frequency bands. The antenna gain is stable with 5.5dBi and 5.8dBi in bands 4.5GHz and 6.5GHz respectively. The proposed antenna is suitable for C band applications.
