Summary:In this paper, a kind of circularly polarized broadband patch antenna with H-shaped metal sheet feeding is proposed. The proposed circularly polarized antenna possesses performances of wide impedance and axis ratio bandwidth. The antenna is made up of a nested radiation patch, a H-shaped metal sheet loaded with the patch and a ground plane with a cross slot. The nested radiation patch is consist of an inner two semicircle patches with two −45° directional semicircle slots, and a outer ring patch. The nested radiation patch loaded with the H-shaped metal sheet and the cross slot combine a loop current to broaden the impedance and axis ratio bandwidth. The antenna has a 3 dB AR bandwidth of 13.45% (9.57-10.80 GHz) and the impedance bandwidth reaches 88.77% (5.68-14.75 GHz).
