Summary:The miniaturized reconfigurable 1-bit reflective unit cells are presented and designed at 28 GHz. First, the structure and the operation principle of the unit cells are presented. Then, the design and the influence of the bias circuit are discussed. The structures and simulated results show the proposed 1-bit unit cell has the advantage of a compact structure, miniaturized size, and potential wide bandwidth. Finally, to verify the reconfigurable performance, the unit cell is adjusted and tested in the waveguide environment. The simulated and measured results prove the designed unit cell has a reconfigurable 1-bit reflective phase shift, which can be utilized in RIS designs.
