Summary:Utilizing the printed circuit board manufacture, a low-cost wide-angle scanning phased antenna array based on the substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) for millimeter-wave application is presented in this paper. The antenna array consists of 8 antenna elements and each element contains 4 radiation apertures, a power divider and a waveguide-stripline-grounded coplanar waveguide (GCPW) transition, which are formed by SIW. The VSWR of the proposed antenna array is less than 3.0 while scanning to 60 within the operating bandwidth (76.0GHz-82.1GHz). On the strength of the combing of SIW design and PCB manufacture, not only is the scanning angle for the proposed 77GHz millimeter-wave antenna array broadened, but also the fabrication cost greatly decreases.
