Summary:In this paper a small circular array of diameter ~ 15cm, with six elements, is used to detect the gas leaks from sea bed around the bore hole. Signal echo from different bearings will be extracted using beamforming technology. Such an array has a wide beam width and high sidelobe levels using conventional beamforming (CBF) which degrades the performance of beamforming results. In this paper, we use a superdirective beamforming technology which provides high resolution in bearing estimation with high array gain as well as strong interference rejection capability compared with CBF. This paper presents experiment results in an anechoic tank to locate the bearing of gas seeps.
