Summary:Urban distribution networks now face the contradiction between high power supply reliability and low power energy growth. Sustainable distribution network planning strategies should be carried out for better quality but less cost. To make the distribution network planning easier, this paper proposes a mesh model abstract for the actual distribution network. Then a three layer evaluation index system coherent to this mesh grid is built around system reliability, security, efficiency and economic factors. The improved analytic hierarchy process and entropy weight method are used for calculating the subjective and objective weights of the indexes. The comprehensive weights are calculated according to the minimum discriminant information method. Then, various planning schemes such as single loop network and diamond distribution network are evaluated by TOPSIS method. The case study shows that the proposed method is able to quantitatively describe the advantages and disadvantages of distribution network planning schemes, which assists planning managers in built the future distribution network reasonably.
